December’s Employee Spotlight of the Month: Medicaid Services Supervisor, Ginger Kavalauskas
Join us as we pay tribute to our incredible staff through “The Employee Spotlight of the Month!” Every month, we will spotlight a new employee so that we can share with the community the wonderful things our employees are doing every day!
Congratulations to Ginger Kavalauskas, our Employee Spotlight for the month of December!
Ginger has worked for the BCBDD for 25 years. Before BCBDD, Ginger worked at Children Services as well as a private foster care agency. Ginger began as an SSA at the BCBDD then moved into a SSA Supervisor role then into the Rates and Contract Coordinator position, which she advocated for to be created. Eventually Ginger moved into her current role as a Medicaid Services Supervisor.
“Early on at the BCBDD, I was given the opportunity to look at what was needed as supports for the SSA department. Through that, I was able to create the Rates and Coordinator position. It started as just one position and has grown into the Medicaid Services Team. Although I have worked in several different department, I think the Medicaid Services Department is really important because it’s the final piece for getting supports and services in place for the individuals we support as well as ensuring they maintain the Medicaid needed for those services,” Ginger said. “There’s many things I love about my job, but my favorite part of my job is being able to support the wonderful people on my team and the other departments in our agency.”
As of recent, Ginger received a survey comment from Britt Meguire that thanked Ginger for all her assistance and willingness to go above and beyond for other staff in neighboring counties in regard to PAWS (Payment Authorization for Waiver Services) and the Medicaid process.
“Ginger K is a pleasure to work with and has always bent over backwards to help the staff at Clermont County DD (Especially PAWS/Medicaid Department) when there are issues that cross the two counties,” Britt said. “All her hard work is greatly appreciated, and I thank her for all that she does every day for individuals served in the DD Field!”
Hailey Quinn, BCBDD Business Services Director, received the positive survey feedback from Britt and said, “I was thrilled to share the wonderful feedback from Britt Meguire in Clermont County,” Hailey said. “Ginger’s willingness to help others, including people in other counties is incredible! Ginger always goes the extra mile. She recently helped Montgomery County too and they were very thankful for her assistance! She is a wealth of knowledge to all who know her, and we are grateful for her!”
Those in the Business Office Department that work with Ginger daily couldn’t say enough positive things about Ginger’s dedication, knowledge, and willingness to go above and beyond in everything she does.
“Ginger is always willing to help, anyone, in any department,” BCBDD Rates and Contract Coordinator Andrea Shollenbarger said. “If she doesn’t know the answer, she will find it.”
“Ginger is a plethora of knowledge,” BCBDD Finance Coordinator Sarah Keller said. “Everyone in the agency utilizes Ginger even if it doesn’t encompass her role, she knows where to find the answer or will help to brainstorm ideas. Ginger is a role model of hard work and dedication; her effort doesn’t go unnoticed. We’re lucky to have her in the Business Office.”
“Despite not being with the agency for long, Ginger has been incredibly helpful whenever I’ve needed assistance,” BCBDD Finance Coordinator Jennifer Kiep. “Her knowledge, patience, and kindness doesn’t go unnoticed.”
“Ginger is a great supervisor,” BCBDD Rates and Contract Coordinator Susan Weber Worrell said. “She’s approachable and available. I really enjoy working with her in my current position!”
“Ginger is the best boss that anyone could ask for,” BCBDD Rates and Contract Coordinator Emily Kelly said. “She is exceedingly knowledgeable and dedicated, and will do anything that she can to help you to do your best work. She is always quick to celebrate achievements and successes, and equally quick to assist in times of difficulty. On a personal note, she is also compassionate and understanding and is devoted to helping her team members to find a solid work/life balance. I can’t imagine working for anyone else!”
Ginger said she not only loves what she does but also loves those she works with.
“Butler County DD is made up of a great group of people that give their all every day to do their jobs,” Ginger said. “Our services, enable a lot of individuals in the community to have the supports in place they need to be successful and independent!”
