DSP of the Month: Toby Crump

Congratulations to Toby Crump February’s Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month!

Toby’s passion for helping others was inspired by his own family at a young age.

“Helping my siblings alongside my parents became second nature to me,” Toby said. “In May of 2024, I became a DSP at Unbound Living Inc. My role has been more than just employment; it’s been like joining a family dedicated to support and growth. Being a DSP allows me to continuously develop relationships with the individuals I work with, which is the heart of why I love being a DSP!”

Toby is currently a house manager, a professional who oversees the daily operations and care of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities living in a residential setting, such as a group home or supported living arrangement, for Unbound Living Inc. and said it has been an incredible journey.

“Thanks to the amazing team of DSPs I lead, who are always ready to lend a hand, as well as the help from Unbound Living, I have been able to make a difference in the lives I serve every day,” Toby said.

BCBDD SSA, Amber Quincy said the personal sacrifices Toby has made to support those he serves has been remarkable.

“Toby has consistently gone above and beyond for those he serves,” Amber said. “As a dedicated house manager, he has proven to be an exceptional leader and teammate. Toby is knowledgeable, polite, and always willing to step up, demonstrating both mental and physical resilience in every challenge he faces. What makes Toby’s contributions even more remarkable is the personal sacrifice he has made. Most of his family and loved ones live in another state, yet, he remains here in Butler County, steadfastly supporting some of the individuals who need it most. His unwavering commitment reflects his deep sense of purpose, and countless people are grateful that he has chosen to pursue this path. Toby truly deserves recognition for his outstanding dedication and impact.”

Amber said she remembers one instance where Toby demonstrated his dedication, when he helped one of the individuals on her caseload attend a training alongside their SSA.

“He consistently goes above and beyond to make each day enjoyable for this individual, like playing ball or board games during leisure time,” Amber said. “Additionally, Toby participates in nightly Bible Study with the individual, honoring a tradition the individual shared with their father before they moved from home. These personal, meaningful moments show Toby’s deep commitment to not only the individual’s well-being but also to preserving important connections from their past.”

The CEO of Unbound Living Inc. also praised Toby for his unbelievable work with those he serves.

“Toby’s level of dedication and compassion is unmatched and unlike anything I’ve ever seen,” the CEO said. “Growing up, he helped care for foster children that his family welcomed into their home, so he naturally gravitated toward this field. He doesn’t know how to hold back when it comes to pouring his heart into the people he serves.”
